We Welcome You!

St Andrews Presbyterian, Parry Sound

St Andrews is a Presbyterian Church of Canada congregation located in the heart of Ontario’s  Georgian Bay 30000 Islands. We are an active member of the Presbytery of Barrie. We welcome people of all ages and extend a special welcome to travellers and summer residents.  We promise you a warm and friendly welcome at all our events. An important part of our Sunday worship is a fellowship hour following the service where we love to meet new friends. You may enter our church a stranger but you will leave a friend. Why not join us for an exciting, friendly service  Following the service there is a time for visiting over a cup of tea or coffee and some delicious baked goods provided by the ladies of the congregation. Please come! We love making new friends. Check out our visitors tips  We are people on a journey, following where the Master walks. We are people on a journey in the shadow of the cross. (Gregg DeMey, We Are People On A Journey) It is with sadness . . . that I let you know that Brenda Shaw has gone to be with her Father in heaven.  Please uphold the family to His care and give thanks that Brenda knew and loved our Lord. Brenda Ann Shaw (Hilts) passed peacefully, with her family by her side, into the presence of Jesus her Lord and Saviour, on Monday, October 16, 2017. Age 59 years. Much loved wife of Jonathan. Cherished “Mama Bear” of Amanda, Adam, Victoria and Laura. Treasured daughter of Angus and the late Marion Hilts. Loved by Gene Hilts. Big sister to Scott and his wife Denise. Dear sister-in-law of Bob and Sharon, Janet and John Reynolds, and Tim and Pamela. Dear daughter-in-law of Doris and the late Jim Shaw. Fondly remembered by her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. We are heartbroken at the pain of losing Brenda, but are comforted knowing she is finally at peace. Brenda enjoyed her life to the fullest, raising a family, and building a community of love and grace. She was passionate about her faith, family, the Georgian Bay, and the Parry Sound arts community. She found joy in her life as a beloved teacher to many. Friends will be received at the Logan Funeral Home, 81 James Street, Parry Sound (705-746-5855), on Friday, October 20th, from 3:00 -5:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. A Service in Celebration of Brenda’s Life will take place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 21st, at 1:00 P.M. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Save the Mothers, or Threefold Ministries (Maternal and Child Health Program) would be appreciated.
Sunday Worship We gather every Sunday at 10:30 for worship. We welcome visitors.

Caring - Sharing - Loving

1 Thessalonians 2:7-8 “Instead, we were like young children among you. Just as a nursing mother cares for her children,  so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.”

Guidelines for a Christian Walk ~ A heart that gives thanks in everything and that is broken and humble before Him is a heart that gladdens the heart of God. Here are some keys to walking before God with a thankful, rejoicing, worshipful heart: If you have been hurt, walk in forgiveness; If you have enemies, bless them and pray for them; If you are being disciplined, do not despise the correction of the Lord; If your pride has been wounded, humble yourself before the mighty hand of God’ If you are burdened, worried, or fearful, cast all your cares upon Him. — Roy Lessin
It is with profound regret. . . that we announce the passing of Linda Moon a treasured member of the St Andrews family. Linda Josephine Moon went to be with her Lord peacefully, with her family by her side, after a long hard-fought battle, at the West Parry Sound Health Centre, on Thursday, October 5th, 2017. Age 69 years. Beloved wife of George “Joe”. Loving mother of Scott and his wife Laura; Jennifer and her husband Ian McCron; and Chris Moon. Loving Nan Nan of Ethan and Joshua; Eric and Hailey; and Arabella and Grayson. Fondly remembered by her brother, sisters, other relatives, friends, and especially by her Church family. A heartfelt thank you to the Parry Sound EMS, and the West Parry Sound Health Centre staff for their exceptional care. A Celebration of Life will take place at St. Andrews on Friday, October 20, 2017, at 1:00 pm, with a reception in the hall afterwards. We, the family, are requesting casual dress because that is what Linda would have wanted. In lieu of flowers donations to West Parry Sound Health Centre, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.  Love to all, Joe and the Family Arrangements are entrusted to the Logan Funeral Home in Parry Sound.
